I-REC
I-TRACK Standard
Is a globally recognised framework for tracking the origin and the complete lifecycle of Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs). I-REC(E) is one such exchangeable EAC which tracks RE-based certificates. I-RECs can be redeemed by organizations to claim renewable energy attributes for decarbonization of their production and supply chain. Each I-REC(E) represents one megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable electricity fed into the grid — issued with unique, non-duplicable attributes covering technology type, capacity, location, and the period of electricity generation.
Energy Attribute Certificates
Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) are tradable instruments that convey the environmental value of energy generation. I-REC(E) are issued, transferred, and redeemed on the I-TRACK platform — providing a transparent, auditable chain-of-custody from generator to consumer. The final redemption is the process that enables organizations to claim renewable energy attributes or decarbonization by formally retiring the I-RECs back to registry.
Why They Matter
For multinationals operating across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East — where European Guarantees of Origin (GOs) are not available — I-RECs are the only credible instruments available for demonstrating procurement of renewable energy under the GHG Protocol Scope 2 Market-Based Method, RE100, and the Science Based Targets initiative.

From Enquiry to Certificate
A structured four-stage methodology — from initial eligibility review through to registry retirement — designed to minimize friction and maximize integrity at every step.
Eligibility Assessment
Review of facility type, grid connection, metering infrastructure, and market jurisdiction to confirm I-REC eligibility and identify the optimal issuance pathway.
Registry Onboarding
Participant and device registration on I-TRACK, coordinating with the national issuing body to have your facility formally recognised and activated.
Certificate Issuance
Regular issuance requests submitted against verified metering data, populating your I-TRACK account with certificates carrying the correct technology and vintage attributes.
Trade & Retire
Certificates sold via OTC to matched buyers or retired directly — generating retirement statements for Scope 2, RE100, or SBTi reporting and third-party verification.
In markets where Guarantees of Origin do not exist, I-RECs are the gold standard for credible renewable energy claims — and getting the issuance, chain of custody, and retirement right demands specialist knowledge.
